Traditions and Ways Forward in the United States

In this chapter I focus on structure of music teacher preparation programs, how they currently accommodate technology studies, and how they might do so in the future. I discuss music technology skill development and the roles of faculty in overseeing skill development under the theoretical model known as TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge). I conclude with suggestions for researching the complex task of integrating technology into music preparation.
